A cinema is offering free entry to help Brits hide from the blistering heat – but only if you’ve got red hair.
The UK will bask in boiling weather next week as temperatures are expected to climb towards 40C.
It’s prompted the Met Office to issue its first ever red warning for extreme heat.
It means the scorching temperatures could lead to serious illness or endanger life, and the current British record of 38.7C, set in 2019, could be smashed.
If you’re looking to get out of the heat, and happen to have red hair, you may be in luck.
That’s because Showcase Cinemas has announced that red heads will be given free entry to its screens.
Red heads, often more vulnerable than most to the sun’s rays, will be allowed to shelter from the sun inside the fully air conditioned cinema screens to catch the latest blockbusters for no cost at all, WalesOnline reports.
Auditoriums at Showcase Cinemas across the country are kept cool thanks to the cinemas’ state-of-the-art air conditioning system, which offers all guests a welcome reprieve from the heat when the sun gets just that little bit too much.
Red heads cashing in on the offer will be able to watch Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder, experience the roots of rock and roll in the big screen biopic Elvis, laugh out loud with Minions: The Rise of Gru, and much more.
Mark Barlow, UK general manager for Showcase Cinemas, said: “While the UK enjoys some much-needed sunny weather, we know how hard some people find the heat.
“That’s why to tackle the heatwave, we’re offering red heads free entry to our cinema screens this Monday and Tuesday, so they’ll be able to enjoy some of the amazing films on offer in the comfort of our air-conditioned cinema screens and ensure they stay protected from the sun.”
The free tickets for red heads are available from the box office of their local Showcase Cinema on Monday, July 18, and Tuesday, July 19, only, for films showing on those days. The offer is limited to one free ticket per person and can’t be used in conjunction with any other offer.
